The State of Violent Crime in America
This report contends that despite a recent decline in crime rates, America faces the possibility of a significant increase in the near future. The number of juveniles at risk for criminal behavior is on the rise, making the country, in the words of the report’s authors, a ticking crime bomb. In order to stave off impending disaster, they argue, we must expand our efforts at placing and keeping repeat and violent offenders behind bars. A successful strategy of crime prevention, the authors contend, cannot shy away from imprisoning offenders and ensuring that they serve the entirety of their sentences.
