Willy Chertman, M.D., is an adjunct fellow at the Manhattan Institute, a biotechnology fellow at Institute for Progress, and formerly a biosecurity fellow in the office of Senator Todd Young (R-IN).

Prior to working in Congress, he completed his intern year in internal medicine at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Chertman also worked at the genetics and reproductive medicine startup Orchid, and on advocacy around vaccine development with 1Day Sooner. His research interests include medical innovation, biosecurity, and research regulation. In addition to his published scholarly work, Chertman’s writing has appeared in City Journal and National Review.

Chertman holds an M.D. and M.S. in Genomic Medicine from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and he received his B.S. in Biology and Political Science from the University of Miami. He is a licensed physician in Florida.
