Robert Almelor Delfeld is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute. He was previously a senior advisor with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs, where he led the creation of the Commercial Diplomacy Enterprise, a department-wide initiative to track commercial cases and strategic investment opportunities. Delfeld’s research focuses on American political economy and the economics of government operations.

Before government service, Delfeld was an analyst with the Marathon Initiative, where he managed projects for the Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency and Office of Net Assessment. Delfeld is from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and graduated from Williams College.
