Jarrett Dieterle
Jarrett Dieterle is a legal policy fellow at Manhattan Institute, where he focuses on financial regulatory affairs and other legal policy topics.
Dieterle has written for the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post, National Affairs, City Journal, and many other publications. He has testified before Congress and submitted regulatory comments to federal agencies, as well as provided testimony and input to numerous state legislatures. Dieterle has made national and local television and radio appearances on outlets such as C-SPAN, NPR, and Marketplace, in addition to being featured in the award-winning documentary American Spirit.
He is a columnist for Reason and a former columnist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch culture section. Dieterle is the author of Give Me Liberty and Give Me a Drink!, a spirited look at America’s outdated rules around alcoholic beverage regulation.
Prior to joining MI, Dieterle was a senior fellow at the R Street Institute, where he also served as the director of R Street’s Commercial Freedom program. Before that, he worked as an attorney at a Washington, D.C., law firm and served as a law clerk for the Hon. Victor J. Wolski on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Dieterle has worked for numerous think tanks and public interest law firms, such as the Mackinac Center, Institute for Justice, and the Atlantic Legal Foundation.
Dieterle holds a B.A. from the University of Richmond, and a J.D. from Georgetown Law, where he was a vice president of the Federalist Society, a member of the Georgetown Law Journal, and an executive editor of the Annual Review of Criminal Procedure.
