Dan Katz is an adjunct fellow at the Manhattan Institute, where he works at the intersection of public policy and financial markets. Previously, he served as a senior advisor at the United States Department of the Treasury, where he assisted with the economic response to the pandemic recession, particularly the rescue of the airline industry. Katz also contributed to a number of Treasury’s international initiatives, including representing the United States at the Financial Stability Board, where he focused on payments systems, digital assets, and nonbank financial intermediation. Previously, he worked at a global macro hedge fund, as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, as a sanctions policy advisor at Treasury, and as an advisor to the Commander of U.S. forces in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Katz’s opinion writing on economic policy, international affairs, and financial markets has been published in City Journal, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the Financial Times, Barron’s, National Review, The Hill, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Katz received a B.A. from Yale College and a J.D. magna cum laude from New York University School of Law.
