Bill Hammond is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute whose work focuses primarily on health-care policy.

He previously worked at the Albany-based Empire Center, where he wrote extensively about New York’s Medicaid program, the financing of its hospitals and nursing homes, the growth of its home-care workforce, and proposed legislation that would establish a statewide “single payer” health plan.

He closely followed the state’s management of the coronavirus pandemic and helped to expose the Cuomo administration’s cover-up of the nursing home death toll.

Hammond’s work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Daily News, the New York Post, and City Journal, among other publications.

Hammond spent almost three decades as a newspaper journalist, most recently as a columnist and editorial board member at the Daily News from 2005 to 2015. Before that, he reported for the New York Sun, the Daily Gazette of Schenectady, N.Y., and the Post-Star of Glens Falls, N.Y.

A graduate of Harvard University, Hammond lives in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
