Ashley Rogers Berner
Ashley Berner is deputy director of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Education Policy and associate professor of education. She served previously as deputy director of the CUNY Institute for Education Policy and codirector of the education program at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture, University of Virginia. Berner is the author of Pluralism and American Public Education: No One Way to School (2017), and has published articles, book chapters, and op-eds on citizenship formation, academic outcomes, and teacher preparation. She has taught in a Jewish preschool, an Episcopal secondary school, and an open university in Louisiana. Berner serves as a gubernatorial appointee to the Maryland Education Development Consortium; senior adviser at 50CAN; and senior fellow at Cardus, a Canadian think tank. Berner holds degrees from Davidson College (A.B.) and from Oxford University (M.Litt. and D.Phil. in modern history).
