On February 1, the Young Leaders Circle was pleased to welcome New York Times best-selling authors Irshad Manji and John McWhorter for an enlightening conversation about identity politics. Minority groups of various religious and ethnic backgrounds have always been a flash point in American politics; Manji and McWhorter have successfully examined the reasons for this and offered insightful commentary on how to move forward.

Mr. McWhorter, whose books include Losing the Race and Authentically Black, interviewed Ms. Manji, the writer of The Trouble with Islam Today and Allah, Liberty and Love, about the moral courage it takes to think independently rather than collectively about one’s “group.”
