On November 2, the Young Leaders Circle was honored to host Gov. Jan Brewer from the great state of Arizona. Having first hand experience as the leader of a southern border state, Governor Brewer discussed the many negative impacts of illegal immigration. Crime, drugs, human trafficking, kidnappings, blackmail and obscene violence erupting on suburban streets have only been parts of the problem. An even greater strain has been placed on Arizona's beleaguered health, educational and social welfare networks.
The Governor also discussed her latest book, Scorpions for Breakfast: My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media, and Cynical Politics to Secure America's Border (HarperCollins 2011) which explains her state's effort to pick up the federal slack in U.S. border enforcement.
