Many of you will recall that earlier this year, we sadly had to cancel an event with MI senior fellow Tom Coburn (bad weather interfered with his travel). Dr. Coburn, as you probably know, is a former U.S. senator and congressman from Oklahoma who was an indomitable voice of reason and reform during his tenure in Congress. We are thrilled to announce that we have rescheduled his visit to YLC, and that he will be the inaugural speaker of 2018.
On Wednesday, January 10, Dr. Coburn and I will discuss, among other subjects, his years of advocacy for reforming federal entitlements—most especially Medicare and Medicaid, and later Obamacare. We'll also talk about how his experience as a three-time cancer survivor and practicing physician inspires his passion for FDA reform. (As you may know, Dr. Coburn's MI colleague, Paul Howard, recently joined the FDA as a special adviser to Commissioner Scott Gottlieb). We will cover, I'm sure, a lot of ground in our long-overdue conversation.
I can't wait to see you—and Dr. Coburn—at next month's YLC. In the interim, have a wonderful holiday season, and a very happy New Year!
