Young Leaders Circle Forum with Avik Roy

08
Wednesday January 2014

Speakers

Avik Roy Senior Fellow

Leading MI senior fellow on health-care policy Avik Roy addressed YLC at the January 8 event to discuss the state and future of health care and Obamacare. Roy champions a conservative case for universal, market-based health-care coverage, his work is helping to articulate a new way forward in health care policy and to reset important terms of the Obamacare debate. Notably, after showing how insurance premiums are rising (see MI’s Obamacare Impact Map), Roy led Obamacare defenders such as the New York Times’s Paul Krugman and the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein to concede that the law’s “success” hinges on increasing premiums on younger people—a policy that proponents of Obamacare had never before admitted. With this important work on health care, Roy has received national attention from The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, USA Today, The Apothecary Blog on Forbes, Fox News’ “The Kelly File” with Megyn Kelly, PBS Newshour, HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” and MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes.”?
