Young Leaders Circle Forum with Avik Roy

04
Wednesday February 2015

Speakers

Avik Roy Former Senior Fellow

MI senior fellow and Forbes opinion editor Avik Roy spoke before the Young Leaders Circle on February 4. In 2014 Roy, a leading health care policy analyst, introduced Transcending Obamacare: A Patient-Centered Plan for Near-Universal Coverage and Permanent Fiscal Solvency, an alternative to the Affordable Care Act, which Ross Douthat of the New York Times has called "the most comprehensive and ambitious vision of what a right-of-center 'reform of the reform' on health care could look like." Mr. Roy formerly served as a policy adviser to Mitt Romney, and has been described by NBC's Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd as one "of the most thoughtful guys...debating" health care reform. He is principal author of The Apothecary, Forbes’s blog on health care policy and entitlement reform. In addition to his role as opinion editor for Forbes, Roy regularly writes for National Review Online, and is a frequent guest on television news programs, including appearances on Fox News, Fox Business, NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Bloomberg, PBS, and HBO. During his February 4th visit, Roy discussed why his plan represents Republicans’ best opportunity to enact entitlement reform, and previewed a new proposal to reform the Veterans’ Health Administration.
