Young Leaders Circle Forum With Allen Guelzo

07
Wednesday November 2018

Speakers

Allen Guelzo Henry R. Luce III Professor of the Civil War Era at Gettysburg College

The recent confirmation hearings of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and the rhetoric surrounding the imminent midterm elections underscore deep divisions within the American polity. As vicious and divided as it may seem, is this really a unique moment in our history? What lessons from history can inform the present? To consider these and other questions, the Young Leaders Circle is thrilled to welcome American historian and preeminent Lincoln scholar (the history professor you wish you had!): Allen Guelzo.

New York Times bestselling author Dr. Allen Guelzo is the Henry R. Luce Professor of the Civil War Era and Director of Civil War Era Studies at Gettysburg College. In addition to authoring 16 books, his articles and essays have appeared in scholarly journals, and also in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times. Dr. Guelzo also has been featured on NPR, the Discovery Channel, the National Geographic Channel, and Brian's Lamb’s BookNotes, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Please join us on Wednesday, November 7th, when we will have the opportunity to review the midterm results, what Abraham Lincoln would think if he followed @RealDonaldTrump (you might be surprised) and a whole host of other topics. SIDENOTE: Guelzo has produced 4 series with the Teaching Company. They are VERY good. Highly recommend.
