It’s been about a decade since Senate majority leader George Mitchell declared HillaryCare dead. Today, Americans are more worried than ever about their health insurance, increasingly questioning the affordability of American medicine. Public programs, too, cause much angst. Medicaid is now the single largest item in state budgets; Medicare is an enormous unfunded liability. Perhaps not surprisingly then, some have again begun to seriously weigh a government-managed health care system.
We need to develop solutions to our problems that harness market forces.
Led by Manhattan Institute Senior Fellow David Gratzer, the event was an intimate conversation among the nation’s best market-oriented minds on health care—from academia, business, government and the think-tank community.
The full-day conference included five sessions, each focused on one major issue. Sessions opened with a presentation, followed by a roundtable discussion.
