Updating and Personalizing Medicare

14
Monday February 2005

Speakers

Mark McClellan, M.D., Ph.D. Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Health care is increasingly a major domestic concern with questions of maximizing access, maintaining quality care, and affordability in the forefront of the discussion. Of paramount interest, as well, is the Medicare prescription drug benefit due to be implemented in 2006. We are delighted that Dr. McClellan will address these questions and cordially invite you to hear him.

Dr. McClellan will speak about recent activities at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to move the Medicare program toward supporting continued improvements in high quality health care. He will discuss both the economic challenges facing the Medicare program and the new steps necessary for long-term sustainability. Dr. McClellan will also provide an update on the progress of CMS in implementing the Medicare Modernization Act, most notably the Medicare drug benefit and Medicare Advantage Program. This will be a particularly timely and informative luncheon discussion.
