Scalia Speaks Reflections On Law, Faith, and Life Well Lived

28
Tuesday November 2017

Speakers

Edward Whelan President, Ethics and Public Policy Center

Justice Antonin Scalia is fondly remembered as a sharp-witted intellectual warrior. His vigorous and unyielding pursuit of legal truth inspired a deep appreciation for our constitutional republic in generations of Americans. Beyond his legal work, the late Justice also had much wisdom to offer on matters such as faith, friendship, and morality.

Scalia Speaks, edited by Edward Whelan and the late Justice's son Christopher, allows readers to connect with Justice Scalia on a deeper level than can be achieved by engaging with only his legal scholarship. "Scalia Speaks supplies what Scalia's judicial opinions could not: insight into the more fundamental set of principles that guided the man's entire life" [Wall Street Journal].

Edward Whelan, a former law clerk to Justice Scalia, is President of the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Previously, he served as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as General Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary. Whelan holds a B.A. and J.D. from Harvard University.
