From the Civil War to the New Deal, America has been shaped by political upheavals—and it has emerged from those trials with lasting institutional and cultural changes.

Today, after experiencing years of economic stagnation, a fast-growing welfare state, and a widening partisan gulf, Americans are wondering if the inauguration of President Trump and an insurgent Republican administration marks the beginning of a fundamental political and social realignment.

Will this new governing coalition deliver a clean break with America's longstanding political order? Above all, will it guide the U.S. to renewed prosperity? In an all-star roundtable conversation, F.H. Buckley, William Kristol, Rich Lowry, James Piereson, Peter Thiel, and moderator Roger Kimball will examine the current U.S. political upheaval in its historical context.
