In A Manifesto for Media Freedom, Brian Anderson and Adam Thierer celebrate the explosive rise of alternative media—and warn against the serious threat that free political speech is facing in America today. New media has created a diverse marketplace of ideas and destroyed the liberal monopoly over news and opinion outlets. Alarmingly, however, many people are working to stifle this new universe of political discourse by imposing new media regulations that purport to establish “fairness” and other content guidelines but that in practice would lead to a much less diverse and open media universe.
