Democrats State a Show of Respect for Al Sharpton. Really?

He once had the power to break politicians, but now he’s completely out of step with black voters.

How seriously should voters take presidential candidates who accuse Donald Trump of promoting racial division and then align themselves with Al Sharpton?

In the latest sign that liberals seem to have learned nothing about racial politics in the age of Trump, several 2028 Democratic hopefuls journeyed to New York last week to pay homage to Mr. Sharpton at his annual National Action Network convention. The question is why they bothered.

Has no one informed Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore that Mr. Sharpton has spent decades turning the vaunted civil-rights movement of Martin Luther King Jr. and Thurgood Marshall into a racket? Did no one tell former Vice President Kamala Harris, Rep. Ro Khanna of California and Sen. Ruben Gallego of Arizona that Mr. Sharpton has seldom missed an opportunity to attack law-enforcement officers or stoke racial and ethnic divisions to line his pockets?
