Scott Walker Governor, Wisconsin; Author, Unintimidated: A Governor's Story and a Nation's Challenge

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker joined members of the Young Leaders Circle on May 14th to share perspectives from his new book, Unintimidated: A Governor's Story and a Nation's Challenge. As Wisconsin’s budget deficit topped $3.6 billion, Governor Walker implemented reforms to rein in the ballooning retirement and health costs for state employees—a primary cost driver that was crowding out spending on basic public services such as transportation and infrastructure.

Scott WalkerIn 2011 and 2012, in the face of mounting pressure from public-sector unions and even a recall election, he made the case for his reforms. Walker ultimately won support for his policies from Wisconsin residents. At the YLC event, Walker paused his vivacious political career to reflect on what it took to champion the changes he enacted, and he share thoughts about how he and other leaders might win the public’s support for fixing the difficult challenges of the future.
