The Competition Solution: The Bipartisan Secret Behind American Prosperity

24
Thursday March 2005

Speakers

Paul A. London Adjunct Fellow, American Enterprise Institute

Federal Reserve policy, tax cuts, and efforts like Social Security reform have all been championed as critical building blocks of economic prosperity in the U.S. Contrary to this thinking, Paul London, economist and former deputy undersecretary of commerce, asserts in his new book, The Competition Solution, that the real key to economic growth is competition.

Based on analysis of the prosperity of the 1990s, our speaker, Mr. London will lay out a provocative blueprint for U.S. economic resurgence and demonstrate how competition produces better products at better prices. He will show us how the lessons learned can be applied to reforming the last bastions of inadequate competition and politically protected inefficiency in our economy—health care and education.
