New York City’s Energy Future: Looking Bright or Headed for a Blackout?

18
Wednesday June 2003

Speakers

Richard Epstein James Parker Distinguished Service Professor of Law, University of Chicago

Professor Epstein is one of the legal academy’s most noted and thoughtful libertarian scholars. His newest book, Skepticism and Freedom, gives a spirited defense of classical liberalism, taking up the debate where his two earlier books—Simple Rules for a Complex World and Principles for a Free Society—left off.

This book defends laissez-faire against critics who have attacked the foundations of the liberal order in defending the modern welfare state. Covering a broad range of topics—ranging from moral theory to linguistics, from game theory to behavioral economics—Professor Epstein argues that the critics of free society make misguided or exaggerated claims.
