We are delighted to invite you to our first in-person event in New York City since last spring. On Wednesday, June 9, MI president Reihan Salam will be joined by MI senior fellow Rafael Mangual to discuss the rise in crime in New York City over the last year.

Mangual has been one of the leading voices warning against criminal justice policies that prioritize depolicing and decarceration, at the expense of public safety. The recent high-profile shooting in Times Square was just the latest and most resonant reminder of the city's alarming increase in gun violence. And at the same time, neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs are seeing a sharp deterioration in public order. Through his work for MI’s New York City: Reborn initiative, Mangual has offered ideas for turning the tide and restoring peace of mind to New Yorkers of all incomes and backgrounds.

These are momentous and uncertain times for New York City. While a bright future is far from assured, MI is confident that with the right ideas and leadership, New York City's best days still lie ahead.

We hope you can join us. Please rsvp as space is limited for this event.
