Brian Riedl Joins Manhattan Institute’s E21

Economics Tax & Budget

NEW YORK, NY (2/27/17) — The Manhattan Institute’s Economics21 is glad to welcome Brian Riedl as a senior fellow in economic policy. Riedl’s work will focus on opportunities for reforming the federal tax code, cutting spending, and promoting economic growth.

Before joining Economics21, Riedl served as Chief Economic Policy Advisor in the office of Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, conducting research and advising on policies related to federal spending, job creation, and tax policy. He also served as staff director of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Growth during this time. In addition, Riedl served as a director of budget and spending Policy for Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign and was the lead architect of the ten-year deficit-reduction plan for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.

Prior to his work on the Hill, Riedl spent nearly a decade with the Heritage Foundation, where he directed much of the organization’s research and outreach on federal budgetary policy.

“Few are more qualified than Brian to provide solutions for reining in the federal budget, cutting taxes, and supporting economic prosperity,” said Manhattan Institute President Larry Mone. “The Manhattan Institute welcomes him and looks forward to leading the debate during this time of change in Washington.”

“I am thrilled to be joining the impressive team at Economics21,” Riedl said. “This organization has been shaping public policy for forty years, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to promote pro-growth policies.”

Riedl’s work has been widely published, including in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times. He has an MA in public affairs from Princeton University and a BA in economics and political science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
